About Me

My name is Melanie Ever Moore and I have been operating Stay Gold Photography for the past 10 years.  Stay Gold is a licensed business (Photography Studio) with the Town of Whitecourt.  I am a mom of three beautiful kids (18, 15 & 12 years old) and a wife to my wonderful husband, Matt, for 19 years now.  Stay Gold started as a hobby in Terrace, BC in 2011 and  when my family moved to Whitecourt in August of 2012, I started operating the business as a full time studio.

Photography has long been an important part of my life.  I was a film student at Confederation College in 1999 and was a long time member of the Winnipeg Film Group, helping to create and produce independent films.  I also have a BA in Psychology (University of Winnipeg) and a HBSW (Honour degree in Social Work) from Lakehead University.  I worked as a social worker in both Winnipeg and Thunder Bay until I discovered my 2 year old daughter was in an abusive home daycare.  I quit my  job that same day and have been a work from home mom ever since ( 16 years and counting now!).   I earned my ECE (Early Childhood Educator) diploma from Northern Lights College and my Montessori Teacher's Certificate in order to run and operate a licensed home daycare in Terrace, BC for 6 years and then a Montessori Preschool for 2 years.  It was during my time as a daycare operator in 2011, when I started taking creative photos of my kids on the weekends.  My clients saw them on Facebook and asked if I would do the same with their children.  My daycare clients became photography clients and Stay Gold was born from there.

Besides being a photographer, I am also a poet and an indie author of four books (my writer's blog and webpage:  www.melanie-ever-moore.com).  My two novels, Hope Quest book 1: Blackbird and Hope Quest book 2: The Lightning, as well as my two poetry and dance photography collections (featuring young Whitecourt dancers)  Elegant Execution and The Stars Went Out are available for purchase on Amazon as both paperbacks and e-books and Hope Quest book 1: Blackbird can be found at the Whitecourt Public Library.
